Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity) is the technology used in a wireless network or for data communication between computers located within the same area (indoor or outdoor) coverage. Conceptually, there is no difference between a wired network (coaxial cable, fiber optics, etc..) And one wireless. The difference is that wireless networks transmit and receive data via electromagnetic waves, which means eliminating the use of wires and therefore full flexibility in communications. Of all the types of wireless networks are IEEE 802.11b wireless networks which are known as Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity), due to its wide dissemination in the market. Products and Wi-Fi networks ensure effective compatibility between computers, eliminating the clients any doubts that may arise when buying a new terminal. The Wi-Fi is not, however, an alternative to a conventional network, but a new technology that complements those. Both networks (wireless and cable) offer the same expectations of communications (share peripherals, access to a database or file sharing, access to a mail server, browse through the Internet, etc.).. In a wireless network each computer has a wireless network adapter.

These adapters are connected by sending and receiving radio waves through a transceiver (transmitter-receiver), which can be placed anywhere, inside or outside, within the coverage area, without worrying about wiring. Wireless networks allow data transmission at speeds of 11 Mbps or even higher, which is fast enough for most applications. You could say that Wi-Fi environment is the ideal solution that unifies mobility and connectivity in the data transmission, offering a new possibility of “mobile office” is wherever you are.
